On May 9th, 2007 Mrs. Mae B. Wilkes passed away following a brief illness. She had celebrated her 90th birthday on May 6th . Born in Medford, Mass on May 3rd 1917 she was the daughter of Samuel and Melena Bunney. She was the wife of Lt.Col. Harold K. Wilkes (deceased). She traveled to Europe with husband and family before making her home in El Paso for some forty two years. She worked in civil service at Ft. Bliss until her retirement. She had recently moved to Alpine, Texas to be with her daughter. She was a member of Daughters of the King, All Saints Episcopal Church, El Paso. She loved to read, travel and enjoyed family activities. She is survived by her son Mr. Bruce K. Wilkes of Colorado Springs, Colorado and her daughter Dr. Nancy M. Antrim of Alpine, Texas. Granchildren are Ms. Heather M. Andrus and great-granddaughter Autumn of New Braunfels, Texas, Ms. Stephanie Ballard and great grand son Scott of El Paso, Ms. Megan E. Antrim and Mr. Kenneth E. Antrim also of Alpine, Texas. Visitation will be held at Sunset Funeral Home-East, 750 N. Carolina Dr. on Friday, May 11, 2007 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. Funeral Service will be held at All Saint’s Episcopal Church Saturday May 12th at 11:00 am.. Burial will be at Fort Bliss National Cemetery at 11:30 am on Monday, May 14, 2007. Services Entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-East.
