Luz M. Veilleux, 94, passed peacefully into the loving arms of her late husband on Sunday, March 20, 2022.
Lucy was born in El Paso, TX on January 20, 1928 to Luz and Ezequiel Mesta. She graduated from El Paso High in 1945. She worked as a bookkeeper for Salzman Music and at Sunland Supply. In 1957, she met the love of her life, Airman Paul Veilleux and the two were married in 1958. Paul and Lucy dedicated their lives to their 4 children, Paul Jr., Denise, Yvonne, and Annette. Lucy was an active member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church for many years and was an avid gardener. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her husband - dancing and venturing on frequent trips to their favorite destination Las Vegas. A loving role model, Lucy spent her days dedicated to raising her family and providing keen insight and common sense advice to her children. She will always be remembered for her wisdom, her beautiful smile, her humorous stories, and her search for perfect tacos.
Lucy was preceded in death by her parents, Luz and Ezequiel Mesta, her loving husband Paul Veilleux, her son Paul Veilleux, Jr., and her brothers Lorenzo, Heriberto, Pete, and Jenaro Mesta. She leaves behind a family who adored her, including daughters Denise Veilleux of El Paso (Ed Birdwell of Carlsbad, NM), Yvonne DeRouen of El Paso (Dana DeRouen), and Dr. Annette Veilleux of El Paso; three loving grandchildren, Karl Birdwell of Chico, TX, and Michele and Nicole DeRouen of El Paso; daughter-in-law Gail Veilleux of Las Vegas, NV, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family is extremely thankful to those special individuals at Urgent Care Hospice and Bienestar Home Health Support for their loving care of Lucy in her final weeks.
