Luz Llamas-Frias Gadney, 94, resident of El Paso Texas, passed away on March 2, 2022. Luz was born on June 6, 1927 to Guadalupe Llamas and Carmen Frias in Nombre de Dios Chihuahua, Mexico. She later moved to Juarez, Mexico where she met her husband, George Gadney. In 1967, Luz and George moved to El Paso, Texas to raise their young family. Luz was a strong-willed and fiercely loving Mexican mother and Abuelita. She had a sharp wit, always ready to laugh, have fun, or go on a trip. If the music came on, she would start dancing, whether she had a dance partner or not. And let’s not forget, Luz was unbeatable at Chinese checkers. Raising two kids, she was our biggest cheerleader and supporter. She was equally important in the lives of her grandchildren; providing them with love, care, and lots of sopita…because in her culture a chunky baby was a healthy baby. Luz was passionate about gardening and would constantly be found working in her yard on sunny days, cultivating a beautiful garden of fruits and flowers with love. She also loved her many pets throughout her life. Luz loved to cook and she was renowned by her family and friends for her chile rellenos, arroz, sopita, and chile con queso. From holidays to average days, she was ready to feed anyone under her roof with her delicious food. Her children and all her grandchildren love to cook because of her. Luz leaves behind her two children, Blanca Gadney-Moss and Javier Gadney, their respective spouses, Robert Moss and Dawn Gadney, and four grandchildren, Noah, Bethanie, and Nat Moss, and Tori Gadney. She is also survived by extended family including Lucia Sandoval-Boeing and Wiebke Boeing. Luz is preceded in death by her husband, George. Her favorite saying to her grandchildren was “Te quiero mucho, mucho mucho.” We miss her greatly. In lieu of flowers and in her memory please plant a tree, or any plant. She and her family would greatly appreciate the sentiment. Celebration of Life will be from 5:00pm to 7:00pm on Tuesday, March 08,2022, at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast, 4631 Hondo Pass Drive. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home Northeast. Please visit her online memorial at www.sunsetfuneralhomes.net.
