Luis M. Tovar

January 3, 1929 — March 17, 2011

Luis Moreno Tovar, 82, was born in the family ranch at Casa Grandes, Mexico in 1928. After the death of the first-born brother in a horse riding accident Luis became the only son of Crespin and Epifania Tovar. His father mourned the loss of his favorite son and upon his death willed the ranch to his brothers forcing Epifania and her four daughters and son Luis to migrate north. Luis met the love of his life, Elvira Tovar and married her in 1948. Together they raised six sons and four daughters. Luis will be remembered for his younger years as a dashing young man who sang with many mariachi bands and at many clubs throughout the southwest. In the late 1980’s, Luis dedicated his angelic voice and life to Christ and worshiped with his brothers and sisters in the Assemblies of God Church in Albuquerque, New Mexico and when he relocated to El Paso worshiped at the Living Water Assembly of God Church located in El Paso, Texas. As a sign of respect people would address him as “Don Luis”. He will be remembered for his generosity, undying faith, and his inability to say no whenever he was asked for help.
