Luis M. Salgado, 82, passed away on Monday, October 8, 2007. He was a lifelong resident of El Paso, Texas. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during WWII and received Asiatic-Pacific Theater Philippine liberation ribbons, Good conduct medal, Purple Heart and Victory medal. He also retired from Civil Service. His survivors include his loving wife: Manuela Salgado, sons; Louis (Francis) Salgado, Ruben Salgado, Tomas Salgado and Matias (Cecilia) Salgado , daughters; Corinna (Saul) Martinez and Rose Marie (Mario) Benavidez, brother: Ismael Salgado sisters: Zulema Ramirez and Anita Gutierrez, 18 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Visitation for Mr. Salgado will be held on Thursday, October 11, 2007 from 4-9 pm with a Vigil at 7 pm at Sunset Funeral Home-East, 750 N. Carolina Dr. Funeral Mass will be on Friday, October 12, 2007 at San Antonio Catholic Church at 11:30 am. Interment will follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery with military honors. Pallbearers will be Louis Salgado, Ruben Salgado, Tomas Salgado, Matias Salgado, Adriana Mendoza, Matias A. Salgado, Raymond Salgado and Victor Salgado.
