Luis Antonio Rosales “Louie,” loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and the family Patriarch was born on May 10, 1927 in El Paso, TX. Louie, 82 passed away Saturday, November 28 at his home with his loved ones by his side. He is survived by his wife, Margarethe, and sons James (Lupe) of Vermont, Steve (Kim) of Washington and Louis (Sonja) of El Paso, 13 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren. Four brothers; Armando (Norma), Joe (Rosa), Jaime (Alice), Bobby (Cathy) and five sisters; Martha (Ralph†), Elsa (Louie), Yolanda (Manuel), Elma (Gus), Diana (Raymond) and many nieces and nephews; preceded in death by his parents Luis & Martha Rosales. During his life, he served in the Merchant Marines during World War II, was deployed with Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 22 to Vietnam War in 1968, earning the Bronze Star medal and retiring after 36 years of service to the US Navy Reserve as a Senior Chief Petty Officer. He was President of the El Paso Central Labor Council for 25 years, a member of the Carpenter’s Union Local 25 and was a lifelong carpenter. He was a devoted man to his entire family and leaves his family with memories that will last a lifetime, humor that will continue to make everyone laugh and love that is beyond measure. Visitation will be from 3:00-6:00 pm at Sunset Funeral Home-Northeast, 4631 Hondo Pass on Thursday, December 3, 2009 with Rosary at 7:00 pm at St. Stephen Catholic Church, 1700 George Dieter. Funeral services will be Friday, December 4, 2009 at 12:30 pm at Ft. Bliss St. Michael’s Chapel 2. Interment will follow at 2:00 pm, Ft. Bliss National Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest with full military honors.
