Luis Becerra

Luis Becerra 93, was born on March 21, 1917 in Jalisco, Mexico to Maria and Antonio Becerra. He was the youngest of seven children. He moved to Chicago, Illinois in 1945 where he worked for General Motors. He met his loving wife Dolores Horcasitas and an elaborate wedding took place in 1949 in Chicago. In 1956 he moved to El Paso, TX where he worked for Rudolph Chevrolet for over 36 years as a body mechanic. His dream was to have his own body shop someday which he opened in 1977 as “BECERRA BODYSHOP.” He is survived by his children Isabel, Richard, Terri, Louis, Anthony, David, Alice, Judy and Marylou; 17 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and is known by his family as “POPS. After his beloved wife died in 1970, he never remarried and took the roles of mother and father, raising his children. He enjoyed traveling to Ruidoso, NM with his family where he found peace and tranquility. He took pleasure in gardening and his favorite flowers were roses. He loved being surrounded by his family. A gathering of family and friends will be from 9 am to 12 pm on Thursday, April 29, 2010 at Sunset Funeral Home-East, 750 N. Carolina with a memorial service will at 11 am.
