Louis Clay Rogers, Jr, 71, of El Paso, TX, passed away August 21st, 2021 after a long and fulfilling life. He was born on March 30th, 1950 in Portsmouth, VA and grew up in Newport, RI.
He was a decorated veteran of the United States Army where he retired as the rank of Master Sergeant. After his army career, he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Park University and enjoyed working with computers and computer software until his retirement.
Lou leaves behind his loving wife of 34 years, Nelida Rogers; his children, Louis Antonio Rogers, Katrina Harris, and Louis Clay Rogers, III; his brother, Calvin Rogers; and sisters Gwen Bassett and Yvonne Rogers Coleman. Lou will meet his parents, Louis and Mary Rogers, Sr, as well as his siblings Gloria, Marcie, and Timothy in heaven. Lou will also be forever remembered by his grandchildren, nephews, nieces, extended family, and loving friends.
Visitation will be on Thursday, September 23, 2021 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm with a Prayer Service at 6:00pm at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast, 4631 Hondo Pass Drive. Funeral Service will begin at 9:00am on Friday, September 24, 2021 at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast. Committal Service to follow at 10:30am at Fort Bliss National Cemetery (East Shelter) with Full Military Honors. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home Northeast.
