Louis H. Almanza (Pele), 84, passed away on Monday, January 4, 2021. Born in San Antonio, TX and resided in both El Paso, TX and San Antonio, TX. He is preceded in death by his parents, Candelario Ortiz Almanza and Maria Cruz Barragan, his beautiful, loving wife, Maria Rosario (Rosie) Almanza, and his brothers Charlie, Rudy, Roy, and Freddie. His only son, Luis C. Almanza, passed away on January 6, 2021, two days after his passing. He served in the US Air Force and retired from the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). He was a sweet, kindhearted, and hardworking man, who had his children in Chicago, IL, in which he also resided for a short period of time and made the choice of bringing them up in El Paso, TX. Yet, his heart was always in San Antonio. He was a devoted fan of the Chicago Bears, Cubs, Bulls and San Antonio Spurs. He witnessed championships for all his teams. He loved the casinos and playing the TX Lottery Scratch-offs. Most of all, he loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren with all his heart. His eyes lit up at the sight of any one of them and they all have special memories of him. He will be greatly missed by his loving family. He is survived by his loving daughters, Nancy Ann Almanza, Sandra Fether (Curt) and daughter in law, Nancy P. Almanza. His grandchildren Louie Almanza (Ursula), Ronnie Almanza (Ashley), Daniel Almanza, Derick Almanza (Melinda), Alina Almanza (Travis), Darin Almanza, Danica Almanza, Jennifer Fether, Adrian Almanza, and Megan Fether. His great grandchildren, Delylah, Dylan, Zethe, Ryan, Evie, Elise, and Baby Smith. He is also survived by his only sister, Maria Elena Gonzalez. Dad, you will always mean the world to us and we will forever cherish the wonderful memories growing up, traveling, and spending time with family.
