Lorena Miladean Ward

Miladean (Mikey) Shelton Ward died May 6 surrounded by her children. She was a kind, loving, funny, intelligent woman who loved her family and her friends. Born to Elva and Fred Shelton in 1930, she was a proud Ysleta High Indian. As valedictorian of her high school in 1948, she earned a scholarship to Texas Western College where she obtained a degree in Mathematics and was member of the Tri-Delta sorority. She taught Math at Ysleta High School and then worked for Standard Oil until her marriage. She married Texas S. Ward in 1956 and had 3 children Sandy (Skip), Debbie and Matthew and 5 grandchildren Becca, Michael, Rachael, Regan and Sydney. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, wife, aunt and friend. She loved to read, garden, attend Miner Basketball games, laugh, joke, play games and spend time with her family. She was very active in her church where she volunteered and served on many boards. In later years, she worked as a paralegal and served on the Board of Directors Wisco Corp. She is survived by her children, her grandchildren, her brother Bobby, and many nieces and nephews, Steve, Susan, Chris, Eric, Brian, Darrell, Trisha, Gary, Neal, Georgia, Glen, Dale and Alan, all of whom she loved dearly. She will be greatly missed. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 pm, Thursday, May 10, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home-West. Funeral Service is to be held Friday, May 11th at Western Hills United Methodist Church in El Paso at 9 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Western Hills United Methodist Church, the Miladean and Texas Ward Endowed Scholarship at UTEP (500 W.
