Lois Esther Piper

January 17, 1923 — September 3, 2012

Lois Esther (Bierman) Piper went to eternal life with Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior on September 3, 2012. She was born on January 17, 1923 to Roy Bierman and Elsie Lizzie (Treptow) Bierman in Pierson, Iowa. Living through the Great Depression prepared Lois for a life of inner strength and unwavering trust in God to conquer any hardship. She joined the U.S. Army on November 5, 1955 and served her country with joy and pride as 1st Lieutenant and Hospital Dietician until April 30, 1960. She was truly a member of the “The Greatest Generation” and served God and Country with love. During her military service, Lois met the love of her life and married Raymond James Piper on Basle-Stadt, Switzerland on September 15, 1959. On August 18, 1960, Lois gave birth to her only child Jay Phillip Piper in Neubrucke, Germany. After returning to America, Lois served the community as a Dietician with the El Paso Independent School District (EPISD) for 18 years. She was a faithful member of her church since 1976, serving on the church board for many years, as well as an active member of United Methodist Women (UMW). Lois also served as secretary for the Retired Officers Association at Ft. Bliss in 1988. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Raymond; and only sibling, Merlin Bierman. Our family wishes to thank all the staff at Hospice Center for Compassionate Care West for their wonderful care and comfort to our mother. May God Bless your every endeavor poured out in love. Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 am with Funeral Services to begin at 11:00 am, Friday, September 7, 2012 at St. Paul Methodist Church located at 7000 Edgemere Dr. Interment will follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery with Military Honors.
