Linda Joyce

JOYCE, Linda Joyce (Halliday-Sommer), Age 68 of El Paso, TX. Born June 24, 1944 in Waukegan, IL. Went to be with her precious Lord on September 30, 2012 after several battles with cancer. Linda is preceded in death by her parents, Lieutenant Colonel Michael and Ruth Halliday, survived by her brother Mike and sister Jeanette Halliday of El Paso, and her two grown children, Jeff (Lupe) Sommer and Dana Sommer of Nashville, TN, along with her many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Her family thanks her doctors, church, and friends for all their help and support. A memorial service will be held this Saturday, October 6, 1pm at the Western Hills United Methodist Church (WHUMC) on 524 Thunderbird Drive in El Paso with Dr. Mark Alexander presiding. In lieu of flowers, Linda desired support for the Marilyn and Charles Stanley Music Foundation at WHUMC. Linda lived a very active and full life. In her youth she was an accomplished competitive swimmer and one of the original Bel Air High School Highlanders. She loved to laugh and play Bridge and Scrabble. Her family, friends, and church were very important to her. Her two cats, Chance and Scout, gave her much comfort and joy. Linda was loved and cherished by many and will be greatly missed.
