Help keep us in God’s shining light. Lina C. Chacon, 78, was called to Heaven on March 1, 2010. Her last loving days were spent surrounded by her devoted husband of 41 years, Benjamin Chacon, her daughter, Barbara Ornelas and nephew Alfonso Campa. Mrs. Chacon loved working with children and valued her days spent amongst her fellow educators at Ramona Elementary and Hillcrest Middle. She worked over 20 years for YISD as a Teacher’s Assistant prior to retiring. She never faltered in meeting her holy obligations as a devout Catholic, always showing her divine love for our Lord Jesus Christ and our Blessed Virgin Mary. Lina is survived by her husband Benjamin Chacon, daughter Barbara Ornelas, son-in-law Orlando Ornelas, and her two greatest treasures Erin Malenie Ornelas and Evan T. Ornelas. She was preceded in death by her parents Leopoldo and Angelita Campa, sisters, Consuelo Gardea and Cecilia Elvira Campa. She is also survived by her brothers, Ricardo and Gilberto Campa, in addition to numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. Visitation will be on Thursday, March 4th at Sunset Funeral Home, 750 N. Carolina, from 4 to 9 pm with Rosary services beginning at 7 pm. Funeral mass will be held at St. Patrick’s Cathedral on Friday, March 5th, at 9 am followed by Interment at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-East.
