Lilia Van Horn

LILIA (ABEYTA) VAN HORN, passed away December 29, 2008 at the age of 86. She was born in El Paso on April 29, 1922. She is preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Benjamin Frank Van Horn, her parents, Guillermo and Genoveva Abeyta, her sister Gloria De Fedelto and brothers, Carlos and Raul Abeyta. She is survived by her devoted children, Irma V. Soria (Jose Luis), Frank (Patricia) Van Horn and Patricia Van Horn-Kimble (Mark Munoz); grandchildren, Joseph Soria, Mark Soria, Wesley Wrye, Jason Hufford, Benjamin Van Horn IV, Valerie Van Horn-Kerne, April Van Horn and Vincent Van Horn; as well as six great grandchildren, Rene, Stephanie, Kayla, Christopher, Andrew and Bailey; and sister-in-law, Margie Abeyta. Lilia was a 1940 graduate of Bowie High School, retired in 1984 after serving 26 years as office manager with J. C. Penney downtown store. She will be greatly missed, and remembered as a loving, generous, and courageous person. Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:30 pm, Friday, January 2, 2009 at Sunset Funeral Home-West, Chapel of Remembrance with a Vigil at 7:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, January 3, 2009 at All Saints Catholic Church. Interment will be held at Fort Bliss National Cemetery at a later date. Pallbearers: Wesley Wrye, Joseph Soria, Benjamin Van Horn IV, Mark Soria, Jason Hufford, and Vincent Van Horn. Honorary Pallbearers: Jose Luis Soria, Dr. Philip Kerne, Mark Munoz and Mike Dimitri. The family wishes to extend a special appreciation and gratitude to Dr. Manuel Lopez, Dr. David Opawumi, Dr. Abraham Gonzalez and the nurses and staff at DSI West Renal Care for the wonderful, dedication and compassionate care extended to our Mother.
