Lettie A. James, 83, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away peacefully on April 20, 2011 in El Paso, TX. She was born in Greenville, SC on November 1, 1927 and was a resident of El Paso for 35 years. She was preceded in death by her son, Steve Ballew of Greenville, SC and Charles and Inez Shackleford of Rock Hill, SC (parents) and siblings. She is survived by her loving husband, Gardiner W. James, Sr. (Bill); two stepsons: Ed James of El Paso and Bill Jr. of Prescott Valley, AZ and their families as well as her brother, Jim Shackleford of Piedmont, SC; sisters: Norma Jean Trussell of Mooresville, NC and Barbara Sanders of Pickens, SC. She is also survived by her daughters: Sandy Maselli of El Paso, TX and Debra Nalley of Pickens, SC; sons: William Earl Ballew of Las Vegas, NV and David Ballew of Taylors, SC; grandchildren: Brad Ballew of Birmingham, AL; Ashley Diaz of Monroe, NC; David Ballew, Jr. of Taylors SC; Brandi Knight of Pelzer, SC; Chris Frazier of Greer, SC; Branko Nastasich of Orange, TX; Heather Daurer of Simpsonville, SC; Brian Garrett of Greenville, SC; Trip Garrett of Liberty, SC; Nicole Nalley of Pickens, SC; Kortney Nalley of Pickens, SC; and Joe Ballew of Greenville, SC. She was great-grandmother to: Alex Ballew, Abbey Diaz, Fletcher Diaz, Tia Ballew, Justin Ballew, Savannah Ballew, Emory Ballew, Candace Lowe, and Ava Daurer. Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 24 from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast. Committal Service will be held at Fort Bliss National Cemetery on April 25 at 11:00 a.m. Services under the direction of Sunset Funeral Home Northeast, 4631 Hondo Pass; El Paso, TX.
