Leroy Roper,

Leroy Roper, Sr. born December 9, 1931 to Alex Leroy Roper and Elizabeth Stanyard entered into eternal rest on June 21, 2012. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, three sisters, and his son, Michael Troy Roper. He served in the United States Army for 23 years and retired, followed by 15 years of service with the U.S. Treasury Department. He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Angie Marie Roper and sons, Charles D. Roper and Leroy Roper, Jr. He will also be lovingly missed by his sisters, Florrie B. Jenkins and Geneva Johnson, as well as his Godson and nephew, James Drye and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. He loved his family and the Lord, loved to work in the yard and was an avid golfer. Visitation will be held from 5-8pm with a prayer service to be held from 7-8pm, Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast on 4631 Hondo Pass. Funeral Services will begin at 11:30am, Thursday, June 28, 2012 at Unity Missionary Baptist Church at 4601 Maxwell Ave.; El Paso, Texas 79904, 915-757-0426. Interment will follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery with Full Military Honors. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Michael Roper Memorial Scholarship Fund.
