Leonardo Roberto (Beto) Madrid, 94, passed away on Friday, December 24, 2021. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, he was a life-long resident of the El Paso area. He served in the US Army during World War II. His beloved wife of 51 years, Alicia Duran Madrid, passed away in 2004. He is preceded in death by his sister, Lorenza Madrid, and brother, Antonio Madrid. He is survived by daughters Emilie Cecile Madrid and Lorraine (Noe) Carreon; sons Robert D. Madrid, Gerard D. (Isabel) Madrid, Ernest D. Madrid, Edward D. (Rebecca) Madrid, and John D. (Silvia) Madrid; sixteen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; sister Alicia Marrufo; and guardian of nieces Olga and Edna Nunez. Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 11, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with rosary services at 6:00 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Homes – East, 750 N. Carolina Dr. Funeral mass will be celebrated Wednesday, January 12, 2022, at 9:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 7712 S. Rosedale St. Interment will follow at 10:30 a.m. at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
