Lenard Keeling

July 2, 1942 — October 5, 2007

Bro. Lenard Keeling arrived in Heaven on October 5, 2007. He will be deeply missed by his Church family and friends. Lenard was born in Philadelphia, PA on July 2nd, 1942. He was a graduate of the Horticulture High School of Philadelphia. Enlisting at age 17, Mr. Keeling served in the U.S. Army first as a cook, and then as a Missileman and Fire Control Crewman with the Nike-Hercules units of the ADA; rising to the rank of Staff Sergeant. Duty stations included numerous postings in Germany, Wisconsin and Fort Bliss, Texas. Bro. Lenard settled in El Paso, Texas and was a Civil Service employee for over twenty years. He proudly served his nation for over forty years. Bro. Lenard was a deeply committed follower of Jesus Christ and an active member of Valley View Baptist Church for 28 years. In his retirement, he served as the gardener of the congregation and coordinated the food ministry of the Church. He enjoyed working with all kinds of plants and flowers. He taught cooking techniques to a younger generation. He spoke often of his relationship with the Lord and tried to bless others in Jesus’ name. A memorial service to celebrate Lenard’s life and testimony will be held at Valley View Baptist Church, 1500 Mescalero on Wednesday, October 10, 2007 at 7:00 pm. Graveside services will take place at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery with Military Honors on Thursday, October 11, 2007 at 11:00 am. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Homes-Northeast.
