Lawrence Arthur Durnford, "Art", 87, passed away on Monday, June 25, 2007 surrounded by the family he loved so dearly. We know such a good, kind, and loving man joins his loved ones in heaven where he is waiting for his devoted and cherished wife so they can spend eternity together. Art and Phyllis were married for 63 years. Our dad is a man of the highest integrity and honor and we were taught by his example how we should live. He loved our country and was so very proud to have served his country during WWII as the Navigator of the U.S.S. Trinity. As Navigator, he brought the ship home to the U.S. at the end of the war. Dad was a Chemical Engineer for Chevron Oil Co. in Calif. and El Paso, TX for 37 years. Dad served as a Bishop and High Councilman in the LDS church. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis; sons, Douglas and John (Sandy); daughter, Diana Maloney(Michael); 5 grandchildren: Shannon, Andrew, Lauren, Sara, & Ariana; and brother, Burton. We miss our husband and father so very much. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 1, 2007 at Sunset Funeral Home-NE, 4631 Hondo Pass from 5-8 PM. Funeral Service will be on Monday, July 2, 2007 at 10:30 AM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 5510 Hondo Pass.
