Laura Ruth Martinez

Retired Elementary School Teacher Laura Martinez (59) was born June 30, 1962 in Stamford, Texas. She passed away August 11, 2021 in El Paso, Texas surrounded by loved ones after a courageous battle with cancer. Laura graduated from Andress High School and earned a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Texas at El Paso. She retired after teaching and serving as a literacy coach for more than twenty-five years. She leaves behind hundreds of students who benefited from her dedicated teaching of reading and writing. After retiring from teaching, she owned and operated a business that allowed her to travel. She spent time during breaks during intricate crafting projects like beading and sewing. She enjoyed time at the lake camping, boating, fishing, and skiing. Laura is survived by her husband Frank; daughter, Jessica Uranga; Mother, Sue Olson; Sister, Kelly Mueller; and niece, Courtney Mueller all from El Paso. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Wolldridge, and her father, Raymond Olson. Gathering of Remembrance will be from 1:00 - 4:00 PM, with Funeral Service at 2:00 PM, on Friday, August 20, 2021 at Sunset Funeral Homes- Northeast, 4631 Hondo Pass.
