Lamar Ross

Lamar Ross, 85, went home to be with the Lord early Sunday morning. We celebrate his life knowing that he made a difference while serving his country, owning his business and being active as a deacon at Northgate Baptist Church. He served in the United States Army for 23 ½ years as an engineer, with a career that spanned the globe during maritime and war. He began his career at Fort Benning, GA., served in World War II, served two tours in Vietnam and also spent time in Guam, Germany, Dona Ana Range,NM and retiring at his last duty station, Fort Leonardwood, MO. After retiring, he moved his family back to El Paso, TX where he lived a fulfilled life until his death. He now lives in a home with our Lord and Savior. He is survived and missed dearly by his wife of 44 years, Jo Marian Ross and his daughters Nataliee Ross, Lakewood, CA; Marian Ross, Fort Worth, TX and Minerva Brooks, Harker Heights, TX. He has two grandchildren, Catherine Brooks Gonzales (Kenneth), Round Rock, TX and Lamar Brooks (Nevenda), Nolanville, TX and eight great grand-children. He was proceeded in death by his parents, his first wife, two brothers, one sister and a son-in-law. He has two surviving sisters and one brother. He will be missed by his family, a host of friends and loved ones. Visitation will be held at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast, 4631 Home Hondo Pass, El Paso, TX 79904 on Saturday, May 12, 2012 from 5:30 pm to 7:45 pm. Funeral Services will be held at New Life Church (formerly Northgate Baptist Church) 5505 Will Ruth, El Paso, TX 79924, Monday May 14th, 9:30am with Interment to follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. with Full Military Honors.
