Kenneth Bryant Taylor

Kenneth Bryant Taylor, 88, Sergeant Major, U.S. Army (Retired), passed away on Tuesday December 26, 2017. Kenneth was born on November 8, 1929 in Anawalt, West Virginia, to Q.C and Flora Taylor. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Ken was the youngest of nine children. He is survived by Honorary Daughters, Pat Rodriguez of El Paso and Tammy McKinney of Princeton, West Virginia; Honorary Grandchildren, Julianna Dobrin and Michael Rodriguez, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Carrie, parents Q.C. and Flora, three brothers, Charles, Emmett and Elmer (Frosty) Taylor, five sisters, Agnes Murphy, Elsie Jones, Laurel Rose, Ruby Brocki and Myrtle Goss. Kenneth proudly served his country in the U.S. Army for thirty years, retiring in El Paso, TX in 1977. He served in several countries while in service during both the Korean and Vietnam wars and is a highly decorated Veteran. His awards include: The Purple Heart, The Bronze Star, The Legion of Merit and The Meritorious Service Medal just to mention a few. His proudest awards are his ten Good Conduct Medals one for each of his ten three year enlistments. He chose these to be the only ones for his funeral uniform. Visitation will be from 12:00pm to 1:00pm with a Funeral Service beginning at 1:00pm on Friday, January 05, 2018 at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast, 4631 Hondo Pass. Burial will follow at 2:00pm at Fort Bliss National Cemetery, 5200 Fred Wilson Ave, with Full Military Honors. Funeral services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home Northeast in El Paso, TX. Special appreciation is expressed to Dr. Michael Gabbert, Dr. Javier Lozano, Dr. David Dobrin, Angela Dobrin RN, BSN, and the staff of Tender Care Home Health, La Mariposa Hospice, Sierra Medical Center, and Trisun.
