Kay L. Sherfy passed away Tuesday, December 2, 2008 at the age of 92. He was born in St. Charles, IA. He retired from the military after 30 years and proudly served his country. Kay fought in World War II with the 90th Division in the European Theater of Operations and was a Purple Heart recipient. He was a life member of the Military Order of World Wars, the Retired Officers Association and a dedicated Red Cross volunteer at William Beaumont Army Medical Center. Kay also worked for nine years as a volunteer for the National Forest Service in Cloudcroft, NM. He is survived by his wife, Rosemarie, a son, Dennis (Doris) Sherfy of Greenwood, IN; three step-daughters, Susan (Malcolm) Cutchin of Chapel Hill, NC; Marcella (Steve) Ryan of Virginia Beach, VA; and Patricia (Michael) Fikani of El Paso, TX. He is also survived by a sister, Thelma Burt of East New Market, MD and six grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 pm, Sunday, December 7, 2008 at Sunset Funeral Home-Northeast. Funeral Service at 1:00 pm, Monday, December 8, 2008 at Center Chapel One, Fort Bliss. Interment will follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
