Karl E. Dreher

January 19, 1945 — April 13, 2008

Karl E. Dreher, born January 19, 1945, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 13, 2008 after a brave battle with cancer. Karl was a proud Vietnam era veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy for 6 years. He was a "nuc" aboard a nuclear submarine, the USS Nathan Hale. Karl received his Bachelor’s degree from Iowa State University and moved to El Paso in 1975. Karl was a home builder and home inspector, and worked with many area non-profit organizations. Karl was a wonderful husband and father. He loved life and enjoyed folk music and news radio. He is preceded in death by his parents Frederick and Grace Anna Dreher, his siblings John Dreher and Sue Schmidt, and his father-in-law Jesus Vazquez. He is survived by his wife, Cecy Vazquez, his children, Karly Ann Dreher, Karen Maria Dreher, Karl Jesus Dreher, Kristine Quintana, Katherine Quintana, and his granddaughter Claudia Aguilar, all of El Paso; his siblings Joseph F. Dreher, Lee Sanford, Frieda Calhoon (Larry), Fran Minear (Joe), Paul Dreher (Gloria) of the Neola, IA/Omaha, NE area; his mother-in-law, Maria Vazquez, sister-in-law, Josie Arreola (Gil) and brother-in-law Jesus Vasquez (Raquel) of El Paso and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 4:00-9:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, 2008 with a Vigil at 7:30 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Home-East. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 16, 2008 at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, Interment to follow at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please direct memorials to the kids’ college fund. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-East.
