Juvencio Macias

Juvencio “Juver” “Lazy Horse” Macias, 79, of El Paso passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family and loved ones on Friday, January 21, 2022 in El Paso. Juvencio was born on January 25, 1942 and is the son of Teresa and Lorenzo Macias. Juvencio is survived by his children Alma (Robert) Coltrane, Sylvia (Curtis) Cox, Luis (Crystal) Macias, Susana (Chad) Kaneshige and Beatrice (Frank) Macias-Caballero; his grandchildren, Amber Fletcher, Leila, and Annie Coltrane, Heather Cox, Austin and Haley Macias, and Kylie and Kristie Kaneshige; Great grandchildren, Rose Drennan-Coltrane and Jack Fletcher, his sister Eduarda Martinez. Juvencio was preceded in death by his wife, Josefina Macias, his parents, his sisters, Jesus Maria Prieto and Estella Banks, and his brother, Tomas Macias. Juvencio was a faithful Catholic, loyal father and husband who treasured spending time with loved ones. He enjoyed spending time outdoors and could be found most days attending to his yard. He was a proud alumnus of Jefferson High School, and he maintained those friendships throughout his life, attending weekly “breakfast club” meals at the Good Luck Café. He loved the mountains and relished preparing and attending numerous mountain-man rendezvous. His greatest love and joy were his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. His big smile, words of wisdom, full head of hair and sense of humor will be missed by all who knew him. The family would like to express sincerest gratitude to his care providers for their loving care and devotion to Juvencio during his final days. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a Rosary at 6:00 PM, Tuesday January 25, 2022 at Sunset Funeral Homes – East, 750 N. Carolina. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 7712 Rosedale. Interment will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery, 401 S. Zaragoza.
