Julio Jauregui, 89, passed away Friday, March 8, 2024. Julio was born in El Paso, TX on February 16, 1935. Julio is preceded in death by the love of his life of 62 years, Esther Jauregui; his parents Juan and Luz Jauregui and grandson Joseph Eric Gomez.
When it came to football, Julio was always ready to share his passion for the sport. He was a proud Bowie High School football athlete; his running back abilities contributed to the 1952 B-Team Championship. After leaving High School, Julio enlisted in the United States Army.
“Once a Bear, always a Bear” Julio became a member of the Golden Bears Breakfast Club; a club which raises funds for Bowie High School Senior Scholarships.
Julio will truly be missed by his family. He is survived by his daughter, Esther Gomez (Joe), his son, Carlos Jauregui (Sylvia), grandchildren Vienna Springer (Jaime), Candie Garza (Jacob), Denon Jauregui and three great grandchildren.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the following staff at Santa Teresa Nursing Facility, RN’s Cesar, Danielle, and Melissa. CNA’s Veronica, Martha and Irene for the excellent care provided.

Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 PM with a Rosary at 6:00 PM, Monday, March 18, 2024 at Sunset Funeral Home- East, 750 N. Carolina. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, March 19, 2024 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 1050 N. Clark. Interment will follow at 11:00 AM at Fort Bliss National Cemetery with Military Honors.
