Juliana Hegstad Garcia

November 14, 1942 — February 1, 2025

Our beloved, Juliana Hegstad Garcia, 82, passed away on February 1, 2025, after years of battling lung and heart conditions.

Julie was born in Warroad, Minnesota on November 14, 1942. She moved to El Paso in 1946. She graduated from Austin High School. Julie worked as a bookkeeper and office manager for many El Paso businesses including Sears, Fruehauf, and Expert Trailer Repair. She married Savio Garcia in 1985.

Julie was a lover of all animals. Much of her joy came from her pets including many cats and dogs. She was dedicated to caring for cats that needed care and donating to organizations that did the same. Julie was an avid reader and volunteered for the library, loved crossword puzzles, and loved home improvement and crime shows on TV. She was creative and talented, working with her husband, Savio, to create lovely gifts for their grand and great-grandchildren, to whom she was devoted. Her loss is deeply felt by all who knew and loved her. Her memory will live on and inspire strength, resilience, kindness, and generosity in those whose lives she touched.

Julie was preceded in death by her parents Julian and Eleanor Hegstad, her sister Alice Geno, and her son James Barry. She leaves behind a brokenhearted, loving group of relatives including her husband of 40 years, Savio Garcia; her sister Marian Ensor; her children, Bill Barry and Beth Giacalone; Stepchildren Marc and Alison Garcia, Peter Garcia and Robert and Marina DeLaRosa, nieces and nephews, Scott Ensor, Jeanne Watt, Brian Geno, Ed Geno, and George Geno, grandchildren; Hailey Shupp and Isabelle Giacalone, Julianna Barry, Albert Garcia, Sara and Daniel Pitcairn and Bobby DeLaRosa, and greatgrandchild: Rita Pitcairn.
