Judy Barry Putnicki

November 12, 1954 — February 1, 2009

Judy Barry Putnicki (54) went to be with the Lord on February 1, 2009. Judy died with grace and dignity with her husband at her bedside after a valiant battle with cancer. She was born in Socorro, NM on November 12, 1954 and lived in El Paso since 1956. Judy was preceded in death by her mother, Marrietta Sampson Barry, her father, Daniel D. Barry and her brother Daniel Barry. She is survived by her loving husband of 28 years, Stephen Putnicki, her sons Barry Putnicki and Anthony Putnicki, and her step-children Scott Putnicki, Christina Putnicki-Rabe and Peter Putnicki. She is also survived by her brothers William L. Barry of El Paso and Micheal Barry of Lewiston, Idaho. Judy graduated from Austin HS in 1972. She was a Rainbow Girl and eventually held the office of Worthy Advisor. Judy worked as an office manager for Dover Elevator Company for 19 years and as office manager for Family Consultation Service for 10 years. Judy’s heart always went out to children as she worked as a foster parent for Lutheran Community Services and the Lee and Beulah Moor Children’s Home to more than 23 infants and toddlers. She also served as a Court Appointed Special Advocate with CASA of El Paso, protecting the rights of children caught up in the legal system. Judy loved her dogs, a good game of spades and contemporary Christian music. All who knew Judy were blessed by her smile and unfailing faith in God. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Western Hills UMC Foundation or the Animal Rescue League of El Paso. A Memorial Service of Celebration will be held at Western Hills UMC, 524 Thunderbird, on Friday, Feb. 13 at 3 pm. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-West.
