Judy Beth Cox, 55, succumbed to a lifelong battle with Friedrich’s Ataxia on July 14, 2008. Judy was born March 7, 1953, at Tinker Field AFB, Midwest City, OK to Cidney Henry and Dorothy Davis Cox. During her childhood, Judy lived in Lawton, OK, Ozark, AL, Aberdeen, MD, Savannah, GA, and Lacy, WA, Judy graduated from Windsor Forest High School, Savannah, GA in 1971. She attended the University of Maryland in Munich, Germany while she lived with her parents in Stuttgart and Katterbach, Germany. While there, Judy worked in the library at the Ansbach Kasern. After moving with her parents to Gulfport, MS, Judy attended the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, where she earned her bachelors degree in library science graduating with honors. She worked for several years as a law librarian in Gulfport, MS. Judy was First Runner Up in the 1981 Miss Wheelchair Mississippi contest. She served as president of the Arkansas Chapter of the National Ataxia Foundation for several years. Judy began reading the Holy Scriptures in June 2006 and became convinced after reading Isaiah 9 that Yeshua is Messiah, accepting Him as her Lord and Savior Oct 16, 2006. Judy is preceded in death by her father, Cidney Henry Cox, maternal grandparents, Sam and Yetta Davis, paternal grandparents, Cecil Cidney and Sophia Mae Hendricks Cox, Aunt Pauline Cox Taylor. She is survived by her mother, Dorothy Cox, sister, Sheryl Cox Maxsom (Joe), brother, Sanford Cidney Cox, beloved Great Aunt Mary Clements, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. The family wishes to acknowledge Carol Wright, Pety, Ceci, and her other “family” at the adult foster care home for the loving care they gave her during the last years of her life. The family also wishes to thank VNA, La Familia Healthcare, Envision Hospice, and doctors Hector Martinez and Eric Spier for the caring attention they provided to her needs.
