Judy Lawana Banko

A heavenly reunion occurred on Wednesday, December 8, 2021 as Judy Lawana (Cox) Banko was called into her eternal home by her loving Savior, Jesus Christ. Judy was born on 11 Aug 1943 in Bennington, Bryan County, Oklahoma to Lester Lee & Della Mae (Cox) Cox. She was raised in the Bennington area and graduated in 1961 from the Bokchito High School; Bokchito, Bryan Co, OK. Judy married her husband, Geza Banko on 10 Apr 1965 at the First Baptist Church of Bokchito, OK. They eventually settled in El Paso, TX and became longtime residents of that city. Judy worked and retired after 40 years for the Civil Service, stationed at Fort Bliss in El Paso, TX. While her husband served in the United States Army. She returned to her hometown on many occasions to visit with her parents, the families of her brothers & sisters, and long-time friends from the area. This soft-spoken lady was a devout and faithful servant of her Heavenly Father. Attending and serving in her church, Apollo Heights Baptist church. Judy loved to tell of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and willingly told her testimony to any that had time to listen. She enjoyed reading and studying God’s Word and penned a teacher’s prayer for all Sunday School teachers. Judy enjoyed caring for her husband and son. She kept a beautiful home filled with memorabilia from her travels with her husband while in the military, Fort Knox, KY and Germany. She loved watching the Price Is Right, old TV shows and enjoyed listening to Elvis. Judy was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, her parents, and the following brothers and sisters: Geneva (Cox) Trammell, George Andrew Cox, Marvin Eugene Cox, Charles Lee Cox, Billie Janice (Cox) Berry, Peggy Shirley Ann (Cox) Yandell, and Glenn Edward Cox. Surviving are: one son, Steven Wayne & wife, Connie (Chalupa) Banko; grandchildren, Steven Kyle (Abigail), Manuel (Nikki), Daniel, and Samuel (Lizette); great-grandson Sammy and one great-granddaughter on the way; one sister, Jessie Mae (Cox) Hawkins of Rowlett, TX; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation for Mrs. Banko will take place from 5:00 – 8:00 PM, on Monday, December 27, 2021 at Sunset Funeral Homes- Northeast, 4631 Hondo Pass. Funeral Service will take place at 12:30 PM, on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at Sunset Funeral Homes- Northeast, 4631 Hondo Pass.
