Judson C. Caruthers

Judson C. Caruthers passed away March 3, 2007. Jud was born February 22, 1956, in Duncan, Oklahoma. As a young child his family moved to El Paso, Texas, where he grew up and lived. He was a graduate of Irvin High School, Texas Tech University, and received his Masters Degree from UTEP. He received his SPHR Human Resource Certification, held offices and was president of the local Society of Human Resource Management chapter and was a state representative of the SHRM Council Advisory Board. His working career included jobs as a probation counselor, placement assistant at UTEP Career Services, placement director at El Paso Trade School, Training and Recruiting Supervisor at Allen-Bradley, Human Resources Manager at Rockwell International, Director of Human Resources and Organizational Development at Pollak/General Instrument and Director of Human Resources at Petro Stopping Centers. As a youth, Jud liked riding and taking trips by motorcycle. He was an avid and loyal UTEP basketball fan often following his Miners out of town. He enjoyed traveling with his family to Mexico, Canada, Europe, and 37 of the 50 United States. His passion was camping with family and friends. His love of the outdoors, zeal for life and sense of humor will continue through all those he touched. Survivng are his wife of 26 years, Marguerite, his children, Katherine Lileck-Moreno of Scottsdale, Arizona, Brendan, Quinn and Tessa, grandchildren, Bijou and Zahir Encinas, mother, Vada Ruth Caruthers and sister, Cindy Darnell of Albuquerque, New Mexico, loving nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles and cousins. A memorial service will be Saturday, March 10, 2007, at 3:00 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Home-West, Chapel of Remembrance. Honorary pallbearers are Maury Gibson, John Gibson, Paul Gibson, Albert Biel, Jr., Chuck Watkins, Omar Encinas, and Lance Darnell. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Brain Injury Association of America, 8201 Greensboro Dr., Suite 611, McLean, VA 22102 or to the National Park Service.
