Judith Ann Masson passed away December 21, 2012 after a battle with cancer. Judith faced her illness with a positive attitude, an inner strength, and a determination that allowed her to live a quality and independent life until the end. She fought with every ounce of stubbornness that she possessed (and that's saying something). Judith was born on October 27, 1940 and raised in Salem, Illinois by Lawrence and Edith Storment. As an only child, she enjoyed both the benefits of being a princess with her mother's homemade dresses and dolls and a tomboy with hunting and fishing with her father and loyal bulldog Laddie. After high school, Judith attended nurse's training in Decatur, Illinois and graduated as a registered nurse. Then Judith and some good friends moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan where she began a career of caring as a nurse. There she met and married her soulmate Arthur. Together they built a life of love. Arthur's career brought the family to El Paso in the 80's. Judith managed a family, a career, and lived a life full of laughter and shopping. She had a gift that allowed her to meet and impact many people on her journey through life. Judith joins her husband of 49 years, Arthur, her son Christopher, her loving parents, and many other relatives in Heaven. She is survived by her daughter Paula Barraza, her son-in-law Pete, and two adoring grandchildren Andrea and Brian Barraza who considered their unconventional Gram a true treasure. Judith leaves behind a circle of amazing friends who laughed and cried with her throughout the tough times and stood by her side in support as she did it her way. Judith also leaves behind Arthur's brothers, sisters, and nieces and nephews that although live far away are close in spirit. Judith's family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to her dedicated friend Terry who volunteered her time and gave her love. Thank you to the wonderful nurses that made this time more bearable with their compassion. Also special thanks to Dr. Herrada who treated mom as much more than a patient. Please wear bright colors or Hawaiian clothing as we celebrate Judith's life and send her on a final cruise. Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, January 5, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home-West. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-West.
