Elvia Judith “Judy” Alvarado, 72, of El Paso, Texas, died peacefully on 15 December 2016 in her home, surrounded by family. After the long struggle of being in a coma for almost 18 years as a result of a vehicle accident, God decided to bring his angel home. Throughout this difficult time, she was lovingly and loyally cared for in her home by her husband, Hector, who selfishly sacrificed the best years of his life for his wife and family.
Judy was born in Acaponeta, Nayarit, Mexico and raised in Mazatlan, Sinaloa, Mexico. She lived in and called El Paso home for many years. She was a loving mother and grandmother who was known for her love of life and devotion to all she cherished. She was the pillar of the family, supporting her husband Hector throughout his military career, enduring multiple separations due to his military deployments and life in El Salvador during the Salvadoran Civil War, which affected her greatly. Even after these experiences, she still supported her son Hector’s choice to serve in the military, who is also a combat veteran. She was happiness and joy personified; her smile could brighten any room. After her vehicle accident and subsequent coma, she was faithfully cared for day and night by her husband Hector. He was always by her side tending to her every need, rejecting any offers of assistance from their children. This gift allowed for their children to pursue their careers and life goals. She will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege to have known and been loved by her.
Judy is survived by her loving husband, Hector, sisters Maria Elena and Maria Graciela, and her brother Jose. She is also survived by her sons Hector and Josue, daughter Janice, and her grandchildren Judy, Rebecca, Aleeza, Eva, Andrea, Josue, Jaylene, and Hector.
The Alvarado family does not request any financial donations. Instead, they request that you cherish those that you love and always let them know the special place they hold in your lives.
