Juan Castañeda

Juan Castañeda, 74, of El Paso, Texas entered into eternal rest on March 12, 2024 in El Paso, TX. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend known for his sense of humor and caring nature. A graduate of Jefferson High School, Class of 1968, Juan was a proud U.S. Army Veteran who served from 1969-1971 in the Vietnam War. Juan was a man of many trades; he worked in various industries including Baker Glass. He later went on to work for the U.S. Postal Service as a rural carrier and retired in 2015 after 24 years.

Juan is preceded in death by his parents, Francisco Cruz Castañeda and Presentacion Garin, and brothers Eduardo Castañeda and Armando Castañeda. Juan is survived by his beloved wife, Linda F. Castañeda. Sons, Michael Thompson Jr. and Marcos Adame. His daughter, Amanda (Teresa) Rivas. Brothers, Rodolfo (Velia) Castañeda, Francisco Castañeda and Raul Castañeda. His sisters, Ofelia (Porfilio) Sandoval and Gloria Vasquez. Also leaving behind one grandchild, Callen Rivas, to honor and cherish his memory in addition to several nieces and nephews.  Juan was very loved and will be dearly missed. 

A Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a Prayer Service starting at 7:00 PM on Thursday, March 21, 2024 at Sunset Funeral Home- Americas, 9521 North Loop Dr., El Paso, TX 79907. An Interment will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, March 22, 2024 at Fort Bliss National Cemetery, 5200 Fred Wilson Ave, El Paso, TX 79906.
