Joyce Louise Burns

July 21, 1932 — March 10, 2011

Joyce M. Burns, 78, passed away peacefully at home Thursday, March 10, 2011 surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty five years, Charles Burns. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother known as “Gram” to most of her extended family. She was dearly loved and will be deeply missed. She was a native of El Paso, a graduate of Austin High School, and a proud supporter of UTEP. She chose to be a homemaker and invested her life in her husband, Charles and their three children: Barbara A. Fox (Ron), Peggy L. Pitcher, and Jimmy A. Burns (Sandy); and their extended families. She was delighted in every success of her grandchildren: Michael Pitcher (Rosario), Jeremy Fox (Pamela), Michelle Priest (Michael), and Wendy Valdez (Sergio). She was tickled to keep up with the progress of her seven great-grandchildren. She was a great counselor, listener, encourager, and prayer warrior on behalf of her family, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. She loved the Lord and has been looking forward to seeing Jesus Christ and family members in Heaven. Committal Services will begin at 2:30pm, Monday, March 14, 2011 at Fort Bliss National Cemetery, Pastor Ron Fox Officiating. In lieu of flowers Mrs. Burns’ Family requests that Memorial contributions be made to Hospice of El Paso or a Charity of your choice. Services Entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home Northeast.
