One of three siblings, Josephine Wallace was born on April 7th 1932 in Vicksburg, Mississippi. Little did she know how many lives she would touch in the coming years.
January 6th 1957, Josephine was married to childhood sweetheart James Samuel Wallace. With a passion for education Josephine graduated from Jackson State University with a Bachelor's of Science in 1961 while raising the young Valerie Lynette Allison (Wallace). Soon after, Portia Carlotta Wallace would be welcomed into the world.
Outside of being a loving wife, and mother, Josephine was a lifetime educator and scholar, adding a Master's of Education from UTEP in 1979 and further education specializing in Special Education from Sol Ross University. After her retirement, Josephine was highly active in volunteer work through The United Way, and philanthropic work with her sisters, the fine women of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc.
Through 90 years, Josephine was able to touch so many lives through family, friends, and students.
Josephine is preceded in passing by her parents, Morris and Josephine Arnold, Husband, James Samuel Wallace, and Daughter, Portia Carlotta Wallace.
Josephine is survived by: Daughter Valerie Lynette (Wallace) Allison and Husband Barry Allison. Grandson, Hanson Edmond Wallace, and Great Grandson Holden James Wallace.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday, March 8, 2023 at Sunset Funeral Homes- East, 750 N. Carolina. A Chapel Service will be at 9:00 AM, Thursday, March 9, 2023 at Sunset Funeral Homes- East . Interment will follow at 11:00 AM at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery.
