Joe w. Delgado, age 79, 644 Bluff Canyon Circle, El Paso Texas 79912. Mr. Delgado died December 27, 2007 at his residence. He was battling cancer for 4 years. Mr. Delgado was born in Blue Island, Illinois. He was the child of Joseph and Petra Delgado (Flores). Mr. Delgado had an Honorable Discharge from the Armed Forces in 1948. During that time he was based in Okinawa, Japan. Mr. Delgado was married in 1955 to Mary L. Mauws. They have been married for 52 years. Mr. Delgado grew up in Chicago, Illinois, from there he went to Upstate New York for college. He then moved to Lincoln Park, Michigan, where they lived for 41 years. Since 1994 the Delgado’s current residence is 644 Bluff Canyon Cir. El Paso, Texas. Mr. Delgado went to Fenger High School in Chicago, Illinois. He received a Bachelor of Science at Ithaca College in New York. He also received a Masters of Science degree at Teachers College at Cortland. He was a teacher for 41 years in the Lincoln Park School District in Lincoln Park, Michigan. Mr. Delgado was a member of Santuraio San Judas Tadeo church on Hidden Way in West El Paso. He also had a keen eye for unusual art. In addition, he always held true to his home town roots of Chicago, Illinois. He was an avid Cubs and Bears fan and without hesitation he became a member of the Bears fan club in El Paso – “Da Bears!” Joe is survived by his wife (Mary), 4 children (Joe, Diane, Linda and Karen) and 6 grandchildren (Maria, Erica, Lauren, Darin, Tatum and Derek). He is also survived by 7 of his 10 siblings. Visitation services will be held at the Sunset Funeral Home on Resler in El Paso. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. on Sunday (12/30) and the funeral held the following day at Santuario San Judas Tadeo located at 4006 Hidden Way, El Paso, Texas at 11:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
