Josefina Hernandez

Our beautiful mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great, great grandmother Josefina Hernandez Acosta was born to Luis Acosta and Guadalupe Cadena in 1933 in the mining town of Santa Barbara, Chihuahua. The family migrated to Cd. Juarez, Chih. when she was a child and where she grew up with her mother, grandfather, grandmother, aunts, and cousins. The family then migrated to El Paso, Texas in 1959 where her three daughters and two sons were raised and educated. She was at the time married to Hector Hernandez who passed away in 1976. That year she purchased her home in Northeast El Paso and the family lived there until her daughters and sons went out to make their own living. In 2004 she moved to Mesa, Az to live with her sons and two daughters who lived there as well. She returned to El Paso in 2018 to live with her daughter Gabriela Prieto and family. Our mother was a beautiful, strong, responsible woman who worked all her life until retirement and disability. Her later years were full of peace and good care. She put the name of God and Jesus Christ on high and predicted his word to many individuals. She was very involved with her church. Her last 15 years in El Paso were of the greatest care given to her by her daughter Gabriela Prieto and family. Her sunset came peacefully on Dec 16, 2024 at the age of 91. She leaves behind her daughters and their families. Ten grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. We will miss her for the rest of our lives and she will live forever in our hearts. We pray that she is now in the loving arms of our Father God and Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a Prayer Service at 6:00 PM, Thursday, December 26, 2024 at Sunset Funeral Homes- East, 750 N. Carolina. A Chapel Service will take place at 12:00 PM, Friday, December 27, 2024 at Sunset Funeral Homes- East. Graveside Service will follow at 1:30 PM at Evergreen East Cemetery.
