Josefina A. Dominguez, known as “Chacha” to her family and “Josie” to her friends, has gone to Our Lord. Josefina was born in El Paso, Texas 1928. She lived most of her life in El Paso, Texas and Grant County, New Mexico. Josefina was preceded in death by her husband Ernesto Javier Dominguez Sr., her daughters Virginia Estela (Viki) Dominguez and Maria Irene (Marine) Dominguez, her son Carlos Arnoldo (Charlie) Dominguez and her grandson Gabriel Sebastian Dominguez. Josefina is survived by her remaining children and spouses: Ernesto and Mary Dominguez Jr. of El Paso, Roberto and Mariana Dominguez of Nashville, TN, Oscar and Margarita Dominguez of El Paso, Alberto and Abigail Dominguez of El Paso, and Adrian and Socorro Dominguez of Bentonville, AR as well as 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Josefina was involved in the Catholic Church most of her life including choir, Marian Group, administration and more recently in various ministries of St. Matthews Catholic Church. Many in Grant County will remember her as the owner and manager of a popular restaurant, “Cobre Sugar Shack” in Bayard, New Mexico. She had many friends in El Paso and Grant County. Josefina will primarily be remembered as a caring and giving person that enjoyed singing and dancing. Her spiritual conviction was the cornerstone of her being. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00pm, Friday, February 15, 2013 at Sunset Funeral Home-West with a Rosary at 7:00pm. Funeral Mass will be Saturday, February 16, 2013 at 10am at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, 400 Sunset Road. Interment will be held at Memorial Pines Cemetery in Sunland Park, New Mexico. A Reception will immediately follow at The Holiday Inn (I-10 and Sunland Park).
