Jose Antonio Sigala

May 18, 1957 — September 13, 2022

The story of Jose Antonio Sigala (Tonyo) began May 18, 1957 when he came into this world the son of Jose Antonio Sigala and Angela Sigala. The oldest of nine siblings, Jose grew up a role model for his younger siblings. From a young age Jose was known for his lighthearted attitude and willingness to befriend anyone.  When he walked into the room you knew he was there with his loud voice and larger than life stories. A natural born athlete, he traveled all over El Paso playing baseball and softball; where he was known all over the city as one of the best clean up hitters who often hit home runs.

It was while a Senior at Ysleta High School that Jose met the love of his life Imelda Lozano. After dating for 4 years, they were married in July of 1978. In what would be one of the greatest love stories his 4 sons would ever witness. Together they raised 4 exceptional men, Jose born December 1981, Steven and Chris born May of 1988, and Joel born December 1990. Jose had an insatiable love for the outdoors, any extra time he had was spent out in nature where he taught his children how to fish, hunt, and how to respect the beauty of the natural world around us. To his children Jose was one of the strongest and toughest men, who possessed super human abilities and was fiercely protective of his family. There was never a situation that would deter him from protecting or providing for his family. Jose was willing to befriend anyone anywhere, even to the embarrassment of his kids. Jose would strike up conversations with anyone no matter the location, his charisma and wonderful smile were infectious to anyone who met him.

Jose’s greatest pride was in being a Grandfather to his two beautiful grand children Sophia and Noah Sigala. Every minute spent with his Grandchildren were when you could see him at his greatest, his smile and joy radiated to everyone around when he was with his beautiful grandchildren.

In November of 2021 Jose would face his biggest battle when he was diagnosed with Leukemia. There was not one minute of his battle with cancer that he was not hopeful and in good spirits. For nine months Jose fought cancer just as he lived, with humility, courage, and faith. On September 13th 2022, Jose was called home to his Heavenly Father, where he was reunited with his Parents Jose and Angela, and his two brothers Eduardo and Carlos Sigala. He is survived by his wife Imelda, children Jose and his wife Priscilla, Steven, Christopher and his wife Jessica, Joel, his two grand children Sophia and Noah, and six siblings Irma, David, Lorena, Roberto, Gilberto, and Christina.
