Jose Jesus "JJ" Ortiz

Jose Jesus “JJ” Ortiz, 85, passed away on Sunday, January 12, 2020. JJ was born in El Paso, TX on April 17, 1934. He attended El Paso High before leaving to serve his country in the United States Navy. JJ would later marry the love of his life on January 11, 1964, Mary Lou “Luly.” JJ worked for the United States Postal Service for thirty-four years. He later went on to work at Hillcrest Funeral Home and Sunset Funeral Home for 20 years. He was an avid runner and loved to dance the night away with his beautiful wife. JJ is preceded in death by his parents, Maria and Epigmenio, brother Mario, sisters: Gloria, Lucinda, Emma and Dora, his wife, Mary Lou “Luly” and son Andy. He leaves behind his brothers: Alfonso and Rudy, sisters: Irma and Estella, sons: Joe Jr (Diane) and George (Mary), daughters: Jo Anne Ortiz(Joel) and Mary Lou Salcido(Ruben), grandchildren: Michael(Cami), Stephy(Doug), Jeremy(Tiffany), Alyssa(Eldrick), Victoria, JJ, Georgie, Boo, Sofia, Jose, and great grandchild Asante. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM with Rosary at 7:00 PM, Monday, January 20, 2020 at Sunset Funeral Homes- East, 750 N. Carolina. Funeral Mass will be held at 12:00 PM, Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at St. Paul Catholic Church, 7424 Mimosa.
