Jose Luna was born February 13, 1947 and died on October 4, 2021, 74 years old. Joe grew up in El Paso, Texas. There was nothing that he could not fix or repair. He was mechanically inclined which fit his resourcefulness and meticulous nature. Joe was easy going with a straight forward personality. He had a teasing nature and sometime sarcastic sense of humor but was always a fun loving and happy person. Joe served in the United States Marine Corps in 1965 and again in 1972 achieving the rank of Sergeant. He also experienced combat when serving in the Vietnam War and was awarded the Purple Heart Commendation for being wounded as a result of enemy action. After his military service, Joe became an expert in repairing small arms while working as a civil servant and contractor for the United States Army at Ft. Bliss and retired after 30 years in this field. Joe was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Martha and his children Rebecca, Betty Jane, Christina, and Robert Joseph, his siblings Adela and Raymundo, and his grandchildren Abram, Nicholas, Anabella, Sienna Marie, Vivien Michelle, Olivia Rose and Joshua Daniel. He will be greatly missed and forever loved. A public visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a rosary starting at 7:00 PM on Monday, October 18, 2021 at Sunset Funeral Home-Americas, 9521 N. Loop Dr., El Paso, Texas 79907. A mass will be held at 11:15 AM on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, 131 S. Zaragoza Rd., El Paso, Texas 79907. Graveside will then follow at 1:00 PM at Fort Bliss National Cemetery, 5200 Fred Wilson Ave., El Paso, Texas 79906. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-Americas.
