Jose A. “Pepe” Hinojosa Jr., entered eternal rest on Friday, September 06, 2024, in El Paso, Texas. Jose was born on July 07, 1938, in Rio Grande City, TX, to Jose A. Hinojosa and Estella Barrera. He attended grade school at Immaculate Conception in Rio Grande City, Texas and graduated early in 1955 from Manuel Guerra High School in Roma, Texas. Jose was a proud U.S. Army veteran with over thirty years of federal service.
Jose is preceded in death by his parents and his siblings Stella M. Hinojosa, Norma Hinojosa, Maria Diana Hinojosa, and Joel A. Hinojosa. Jose is survived by his wife of 56 years, Yolanda de la Garza Hinojosa and his sons Damian and Hjalmar Hinojosa. Jose is also survived by many extended friends and family to cherish and honor his memory.
During their fifty-six years of marriage, Jose and Yolanda lived and traveled throughout the United States and South America, often spending evenings celebrating and dancing in the company of lifelong friends. Jose was an avid Dallas Cowboy and Texas A&M fan. He enjoyed reading, specifically Tom Clancey, John Grisham, and James Patterson novels. Jose establishing a routine of waking up early, enjoying a fresh cup of coffee and reading the newspaper.
Jose will always be remembered for his unwavering sense of duty, his dedication to family and country, and his determination to do things his own way.
A Visitation will be held from 4:00pm to 8:00pm on Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at Sunset Funeral Homes-West with a Rosary to commence at 6:00pm.
