Johnny F. Hooks passed away peacefully on Saturday October 8th surrounded by his family. He was a 53-year resident of El Paso, Texas. Johnny retired with 20 years from the Army as a Master Sergeant. After retiring from the Army, Johnny taught at the Air Defense Artillery School, in the Patriot Training Division at Fort Bliss, for another 20 years. Johnny Hooks spent his life serving and defending his country. He loved hunting, fishing, and all things outdoors. Johnny loved to tell his stories while smoking a cigar on the porch of his cabin near Caballo Lake. Johnny had a special sense of humor that could set everyone at ease, and if you knew him long enough, he’d teach you something about how to hunt, or fish or just how to love being outside.
He is survived by the love of his life Gisela Hooks, his two sons Tom Frank Long (wife Christina) of San Antonio, Pete Long of La Crosse, Virginia, and his granddaughters Ashley Long, Heather Allgood, Marissa Hunter, and Claire Hunter. Johnny will be missed dearly by all his family and friends.
