John Kenneth McAleer

June 11, 1931 — August 6, 2010

John Kenneth McAleer, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, age 79, passed away August 6, 2010 due to complications of diabetes and heart failure. He was born in Danbury, Iowa, son of Alice and Stephen McAleer, Served in the U.S; Air Force, was one of the pioneers in El Paso of RV camping and motor home travel. He owned Ken's Camper Center for several years, and then retired as a Conductor from Southern Pacific Railroad. He is survived by Ima,his wife of 57 years, his sons, John K. McAleer II,(Cynthia), Daniel Patrick McAleer, (Karen) their children, Daniel Patrick II, Christina Hernandez (Joe) and their two children, Tristan and Ariel, Barbara Campos (Rito) and their three children Calleigh, Lillian and Rito II, and Elizabeth Quiroga (Christian) and their son, Christian, and his sister, Marie Gerstner of Surprise, Az., and her children, Barbara, Mark, Steven, Joe, Mary and Michael. He was preceded in death by son, Stephen Michael McAleer. Words cannot express how much he will be missed. He and his family traveled much, enjoyed their mutual love of hunting and fishing, camping, boating, involvement in ham, radio, and spending time with friends. His interest in electronics such as computers, radios, problem solving with regard to RV's was shared with whoever called on him. We will remember you, Daddy, as being able to guide us through all the learning experiences of childhood, all the joys and heartaches of growing up, your joy in your grandchildren and great grandchildren and your continuing love for us. We are proud of you and honored to be your family. Your philosophies, favorite expressions, patriotism, and good citizenship are embedded in us travel on, Dad, know that we will keep you constantly in our hearts and minds, and look forward to a glorious reunion. Visitation: 4:00-7:00 pm, Monday, August 9, 2010 at Sunset Funeral Homes-Northeast. Vigil: 6:00 pm, Monday, August 9, 2010 at Sunset Funeral Homes-Northeast.
