John Edmond Hyde

November 13, 1912 — December 31, 2006

John Edmond Hyde, 94, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend passed away on Sunday, December 31, 2006. John was born in Knox City, Texas on November 13, 1912 to William Walter and Lizzie Isabel Hyde. John served in the United States Army; he served during WWII and was stationed throughout Europe. Mr. Hyde was the last of 13 siblings. He worked for West Texas Utilities out of the Abilene and Marfa areas; then, he moved to El Paso from Abilene in 1958. Mr. Hyde obtained his teaching degree from Texas Tech University and taught special education classes in the E.P.I.S.D., retiring in 1978. In 1980 he moved to Chaparral, New Mexico, where he and his wife raised registered angus cattle. Mr. Hyde was a member of the Blinded Veterans Association and in his spare time he enjoyed woodworking. He will be sadly missed by family and friends. Survived by his loving wife of over 30 years, Marie Hyde. Sons, Billy Mack Hyde, John Gary Hyde, Bill Galloway, Aaron Pedraza and Charles Pedraza. Daughter, Darla Martin. 16 Grandchildren and 14 Great Grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, January 3, 2007 at Sunset Funeral Homes-Northeast. Graveside service with Military Honors will be held at 2:30 pm, Thursday, January 4, 2007 at Fort Bliss National Cemetery. Interment will follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers family requests donations be made to the Blinded Veterans Association, 5001 North Piedras St., Rm. B-208, El Paso, TX 79930-4211 or a charity of your choice.
