John Edward Houdesheldt passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday October 20th, 2012. Our beloved father was born on January 14th, 1928 in Mondamin, Iowa to Ernest and Goldie Houdesheldt. He served in the Army (Air Defense Artillery Branch) for twenty years, then went on to retire from Taylor Publishing Company. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Nellie who passed away in 2008, and also by two sisters Bette and Jean. He is survived by two daughters, Bette Kalinowski (Paul) and Cynthia Carranco. He also leaves behind four loving grandchildren, Chelsea Hopkins, Ryan Carranco (Virginia), Kyle Carranco and Jeremy Carranco. He also leaves behind three sisters Mary Coy, Lola Scurlock, Phyllis Mann, and numerous nieces and nephews. John loved hiking in his beloved Franklin Mountains but loved the Dallas Cowboys more. They truly have lost their biggest fan. Committal Service will begin at 10:30am, Friday October 26, 2012 at Fort Bliss National Cemetery with Full Military Honors.
