John dedicated almost 25 years of his life to the armed forces. During that time, he made and fostered lasting friendships, many of those lasting until his passing. John retired from the Army and began a second career in Civil Service at Fort Bliss and worked there for many years, retiring in 2003.
Every Saturday, John looked forward to “his bowl of menudo” and meeting with fellow veterans for breakfast. He also met monthly with a group of veterans/retired Civil Service personnel at Fort Bliss. The members of both groups remained some of his most cherished friends until his passing.
Family members that preceded John in death included his parents and brother F.C. “Red” Wallace. He is survived by his spouse, Yoshie; children Adriane Hanway-Dickenson and her husband James, Tanya Hanway; and brother: Charles J. “Chuck” Wallace and his wife Kay.
