John H. Church

John H. Church, 85, passed away Friday, August 10, 2007. He was born in Danville, Illinois February 20, 1922 to John B. Church and Anna Green Church who have preceded him in death. He was a longtime resident of El Paso, a U.S. Army Veteran serving in WWII. He was a graduate and alumni of Colorado School of Mines and was a Geologist for El Paso Natural Gas Company and later a partner in Patel, Walter, Church Consulting firm. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, barbequing and most of all his grandkids. Mr. Church is survived by his “wife of 53 years” Mary Lou Church and daughters Penny A. Kosters, Jerri Beth Escobedo and husband Ralph, Mary Jo Mallard, Cindy Shea and husband Mike, Margaret Ann Correa and husband Martin, his sister, Margaret Ann Booth and husband Don and many other extended family members. He had eleven beloved grandchildren, Lee Christine Campos, Rosalie Escobedo, Johnny Escobedo, Jena Bridges, Joanna Escobedo, Christopher Correa, Keith Campos, Jamie Correa, Johnny Bridges, Brianna Correa and Michaela Anne Shea. John was kind, loving and friendly and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. His love will be forever with us. Memorial contribution may be made to: The American Cancer Society and The American Lung Association. Visitation will be held Monday, August 13, 2007 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Homes-Northeast, 4631 Hondo Pass. Funeral Services at 10:30 am, Tuesday, August 14, 2007 at Sunset Funeral Home-Northeast. Interment will follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery with Military Honors.
