Joel Conrad Hardy (Opa) passed away on Friday, March 26, 2021 in El Paso, TX at the age of 87.
Joel Hardy was born on September 29, 1933 in Imperial, California to his parents Carol and Joel Hardy. He grew up and graduated from Woodland High School in Woodland, WA as class of 1950. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1952 during the Korean War where he earned the rank of S.Sgt. before he found himself honorably discharged in El Paso, TX in 1955. He met his true love, Marianne (Oma) who he married in 1956 and had two beautiful daughters, Deborah, and Barbara. He worked for the Chevron refinery here in El Paso for 35 years until his retirement in 1991.
He was such a hard-working man that loved to work on his yard and took pride in everything he did. To all friends and family, he was a giant that stood 10-feet tall and had the heart of Gold. We will all miss the travel stories you spoke about while having a couple cold-ones in the hot summers, but most of all we will miss your smile, laugh and quirky jokes.
Joel is survived by his wife, Marianne Hardy and daughter, Barbara Bradley; son-in-law, Frank Salgado; grandsons, Frank Jr., Christopher, David, Greg, and Brian; great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Emily, Victoria, Abigail, and Everett. He is preceded in death by his brothers Warren and Ward Hardy, sisters, Caroline and Katheryn, daughter, Deborah Salgado and son-in-law, Michael Bradley.
